OptionKit (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a Shopify app developed by FourCore that lets merchants add product options, customizations, and paid add-ons to their Shopify stores. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and the choices available to merchants and their customers.
Information we collect
When a merchant installs OptionKit, we receive information from the merchant’s Shopify store through the Shopify Admin API, limited to the access scopes the merchant approves:
- Store information — the store’s
myshopify.comdomain and basic shop details. - Products and themes — product, variant, and theme data, used to display and configure options on the storefront.
- Markets — the store’s markets and currencies, used for per-market pricing and translations.
- Files — images and files, used to store buyer-uploaded files via Shopify Files.
- App configuration — the option sets, fields, pricing rules, and settings the merchant creates in the App.
When a customer interacts with the App on the storefront, we process the option selections they make on a product page, including any text they enter or files they upload, so those choices can be applied to the cart and the resulting order. These selections are stored to support cart editing and order fulfilment.
We do not collect customer names, addresses, email addresses, or payment information. Payments are handled entirely by Shopify Checkout; the App never sees or stores payment details.
How we use information
- To provide the App’s functionality — rendering options, calculating add-on prices, applying selections to the cart through a Shopify Cart Transform function, and showing option details on the merchant’s orders.
- To translate options and apply per-market pricing.
- To provide merchant support and to operate and improve the App.
Service providers
We use the following providers to operate the App:
- Shopify — platform, Admin API, file storage, and checkout.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Groq — optional AI-assisted translation of option labels. Only the option text a merchant chooses to translate is sent; no customer personal data is shared.
- Crisp — in-app support chat for merchants.
We do not sell personal information.
Data retention and deletion
We retain a store’s configuration and related data while the App is installed. When the App is uninstalled, we delete the store’s data. We also honour Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhooks — customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact — to fulfil data access and erasure requests.
Your rights
Merchants and their customers may request access to, or deletion of, data we hold. Merchants can reach us at support@fourcore.dev, and we respond to the Shopify compliance webhooks listed above.
Security
Data is transmitted over TLS (HTTPS) and stored on infrastructure provided by our hosting and platform providers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent version.
